In recent years — and especially since 7 October 2023 — there has been a sharp increase in both the number and severity of settler attacks against Palestinians. The incidents reported on this blog do not reflect all incidents of settler violence in the West Bank, but only those that B’Tselem was able to document and investigate.

On Wednesday, 25 June 2025, at around 8:00 P.M., shortly after settlers attacked the village of Kafr Malik, about 30 masked settlers arrived in roughly ten vehicles at the community of Dar Abu Faza’, located about six kilometers to the south. The community comprises about 15 families, numbering around 100 people, some of whom live in stone houses while others live in tents.
The settlers split into two groups and began attacking the community from two different directions. They threw stones at residents and homes, smashed windows, set fire to a fallow field and plastic sheets near one of the houses, burned three vehicles, and set fire to two houses while residents were inside. In one of the homes, a bed caught fire, but the occupants managed to put it out quickly. In the other, the fire did not spread. The settlers also sprayed a Star of David on one of the homes.
About 15 young men who were in the community repelled the settler attack by throwing stones. After about ten minutes, the settlers retreated. Seven local residents suffered from smoke inhalation, and another was injured in the leg by a stone. All the wounded were treated on site.

Soldiers stationed at a nearby military post arrived only after the settlers had left. After seeing that no one required further treatment, they also left. About an hour and a half later, police officers arrived, dusted for fingerprints, took photos of the scene and left.
M.K., 36, a father of eight and resident of the community, said in a testimony he gave B’Tselem field researcher Mohammad Romaneh the day after the attack:

On Wednesday, 25 June 2025, at around 8:00 P.M., after we had finished the evening prayer in the community, news began to spread that settlers were attacking the village of Kafr Malik and that several people got hurt.
At that moment, we saw about ten vehicles with yellow Israeli license plates stop a few dozen meters north of the community, on the other side of Route 449 (Alon Route). As soon as the vehicles stopped, about 30 settlers got out and ran toward the community and our residential tents. The settlers split into two groups: one attacked the community from the northwest, and the other from the north.
All the settlers had their faces fully covered and were wearing civilian clothes. Some carried sticks and others stones. A few held plastic bottles, which we later discovered contained flammable materials.

The settlers set fire to dry weeds in a plot of land between the northern edge of the community and Alon Route, and it spread quickly. They also torched a car that was parked there and sprayed Stars of David on the walls of a house on that side of the community.
Then they tried to set fire to several homes in the same area. They tried to pour flammable liquids into the houses through the windows, but a thick metal mesh covering the windows prevented them. Otherwise, the consequences could have been disastrous, since residents were inside.
Meanwhile, the second group of settlers attacked the community from the northwest, after jumping over a wire fence that residents had put up in front of the houses on that side.
Once they reached the roundabout in the community, between where the houses are and where the tents are, they set fire to a Subaru Impreza belonging to one of the residents. They opened the car doors and set fire to it from the inside.
They also torched another car parked nearby that was out of commission and being used for parts. After that, they attacked the car owner’s house and tried to set fire to it while he, his wife, and their three children were inside. The family managed to shut the door and stop them from getting in, but the settlers then poured flammable liquid on the window of the house.
At the same time, about 10 to 15 other residents, myself included, confronted the settlers attacking from the northern side and forced them to retreat toward the road. Suddenly, we saw plumes of smoke rising from the other side of the community. We rushed over there and saw about ten settlers trying to set fire to one of the houses. We got into mutual stone-throwing, and the settlers ran toward their vehicles, which were parked on Alon Route, about 50 meters from the community.

We managed to put out the fires about 20 minutes after the settlers started them, using fire beaters, water hoses, and handheld extinguishers.
Our community is the last Bedouin community east of Ramallah. The settlers managed to drive all the other communities from this area after escalating their attacks against them. This was not the first time settlers attacked us, but it was the first time they set fire to cars, tents, and houses. Their past attacks only included harassment and provocations.
