Khirbet Susiya, South Hebron Hills: Israeli settlers harassed a Palestinian shepherd and started a fire near his home
23 May 2024
On Thursday, 23 May 2024, while Ahmad Nawaj’ah (39) was grazing his sheep 300 meters east of his home in Khirbet Susiya, two settlers entered his plot with a flock of sheep and tried to mix their sheep with his. Mixing up flocks is a known tactic used by settlers who later claim that sheep were stolen from them. Nawaj’ah began leading his flock towards his home, but the settlers blocked his path, and he was forced to take a longer route. The settlers remained in the plot for some time and then left.
That night, family members were woken up by noise outside around 3:00 A.M.. When they went out with activists who were staying with them to check, they saw a fire about 30 meters from the house. They managed to put it out and called the police, who did not arrive until 9:00 A.M. The officers suggested the family file a complaint at the police station, which Nawaj’ah did the next day.
