On 20 August 2022, residents of the community of Qawawis noticed settlers walking around among the homes of Khirbet Simri, a community that lies southwest of the community of She’b al-Batem. They alerted one of the homeowners, who returned after a month’s absence due to fear of settler violence, and found that settlers had smashed all the window panes in his home, broken the solar panels, vandalized the electrical panel and cut pipes that carry water from a rainwater cistern.
