A-Tuwani, Masafer Yatta: Settlers uproot 16 young olive trees
6 May 2022
On 6 May 2022, village resident Hatem Makhamreh (50) arrived at his plot of land, which lies on a-Tuwani land in the al-Hamrah area south of the village, after a resident who lives nearby informed him that settlers had uprooted trees from his plot.
In a testimony he gave B’Tselem field researcher Nasser Nawaj’ah, Makhamreh recounted:
I planted those olive trees seven years ago. When I arrived this morning, I found 16 olive trees thrown on the ground, as well carub and pine trees that had been cut down. I called the police and gave a statement to the officers who arrived. I told them this wasn’t the first time settlers had come to my land and damaged my crops.
