28 August 2023 Kh. Jenbah
On Monday, 28 August 2023, in the afternoon, activists from the village of Jenbah in Masafer Yatta, visited schools in the area. Upon returning to the village, at around 2:00 P.M., soldiers and Civil Administration personnel arrived, confiscated seven jeeps owned by village residents and drove them to a nearby military base.
22 August 2023 Kh. Jenbah
On Tuesday, 22 August 2023, at around 7:00 P.M., soldiers detained a resident of the community of Kh. Jenbah in Masafer Yatta in the South Hebron Hills, while he was driving his car at the entrance to the community. The soldiers searched the car and confiscated it, claiming it had entered a firing zone. They ordered him to drive the car to a base the Israeli military had established about one kilometer away from the community.
21 August 2023 'Ein a-Duyuk a-Tahta
On Monday, 21 August 2023, at around 6:30 A.M., Civil Administration personnel arrived with a military escort and bulldozers at ‘Ein a-Duyuk a-Tahta, west of Jericho, and demolished the homes of two families numbering 14 people in total, including six minors, as well as two livestock enclosures and a shed belonging to one of the families. They also destroyed four water tanks. Both families were left homeless. The forces also demolished a house under construction designed to house a family of eight, including six minors, and two vacation homes, one under construction, owned by two families from East Jerusalem and located some two kilometers away.
20 August 2023 Kh.al-Halawah, Kh. Jenbah, Kh. al-Fakhit
On Sunday, 20 August 2023, at around noon, soldiers came to a home in the community of Kh. al-Halawah in Masafer Yatta and confiscated the family’s car, claiming the owners drive workers who have no permits to Israel. A soldier drove the car to a military base near the community of Kh. Jenbah. On Tuesday, 22 August 2023, around 8:00 P.M., soldiers detained a resident of the community of Kh. Jenbah, who was driving in his car near the community, claiming he was driving in a “closed military zone” and confiscated the car. A soldier drove the car to a military base near the community. On Thursday, 24 August 2023, at around 4:00 A.M., soldiers detained a resident of the community of Kh. al-Fakhit, who was on his way home, claiming he was driving in a “closed military zone” and confiscated the car. The soldiers instructed the man to drive the car to a base near the community of Kh. Jenbah, which he did.
20 August 2023 a-Duqaiqah
On Sunday, 20 August 2023, in the early afternoon, Civil Administration personnel arrived with a military escort at the village of Kh. a-Duqaiqah in the South Hebron Hills and confiscated a cement mixer owned by a construction company that was used for road repair work in the area. Civil Administration personnel ordered the driver to drive the truck to the main road, where they loaded it onto a tow truck and drove it away.
18 August 2023 a-Duqaiqah
On Friday, 18 August 2023, in the afternoon, soldiers arrived at the road that leads to the village of Kh. a-Duqaiqah in the South Hebron Hills, while the owner of a digger was carrying out road repair work. The soldiers called a representative of the Civil Administration, who confiscated the digger and drove it away.
17 August 2023 Kh. Humsah a-Tahta
On Thursday, 17 August 2023, Civil Administration personnel arrived with a military escort, a bulldozer and a truck at the community of Kh. Humsah a-Tahta in the northern Jordan Valley. The forces dismantled and confiscated a prefabricated structure donated by the ACTED organization to a family of seven, including five minors, after the Civil Administration demolished its seasonal home in the same area on 24 July 2023. In addition, the Civil Administration confiscated an outhouse owned by the same family.
17 August 2023 Ein Samia
This morning, 17 August 2023, about three months after residents of 'Ein Samia were forced to abandon their homes and lives in the community which lies northeast of Ramallah, Civil Administration personnel arrived with a military escort, proclaimed the site a closed military zone and demolished the school community residents built in early 2022. The forces confiscated all the equipment inside the school as well. On 22 May 2023, the last remaining residents of the community, which numbered 200, were forced to leave their homes after Israel had made their lives unbearable, in part through settler violence. According to UN figures, the 'Ein Samia community school was one of 44 schools in the West Bank under threat of demolition, eight of them in East Jerusalem. About 4,800 students attend these schools.
9 August 2023 a-Deirat
On Wednesday, 9 August 2023, in the afternoon, soldiers arrived in a military jeep at the village of Kh. a-Deirat in the South Hebron Hills while employees of an electric works company owned by residents of Khallet al-Mayah we making repairs to electric grids using a crane truck. The soldiers ordered them to stop their work, claiming they needed a permit, and called a representative of the Civil Administration. The representative arrived three hours later, confiscated the crane truck and ordered the driver to drive it to the settlement of Pnei Hever.
9 August 2023 al-Hadidiyah
In the late afternoon on Wednesday, 9 August 2023, settlers arrived in a Jordan Valley regional settlement council vehicle at the pastureland east of the village of al-Hadidiyah in the northern Jordan Valley, where two of the village’s residents were grazing their flocks. The settlers summoned soldiers who confiscated the two cars owned by the shepherds on the pretext that they had driven into forbidden territory. The soldiers drove them to a nearby military post.
7 August 2023 Kh. Jenbah
On Monday, 7 August 2023, in the late afternoon, Civil Administration personnel arrived with a military escort at Kh. Jenbah in Masafer Yatta, South Hebron Hills, and confiscated a generator residents were using to renovate a cave they live in. The Civil Administration personnel took the generator to the settler outpost of Havat Talia, established near the community.
6 August 2023 al-Qabun
After repeated attacks and threats by settlers and having been left with no other choice, the Bedouin community of al-Qabun, located east of Ramallah, abandoned its homes this week. Most members of the community, numbering 12 families numbering a total of 86 people, including 26 minors, have left already, and the rest are currently packing up and getting ready to follow suit. The community has lived at the current site since 1996. In February of this year, settlers took up residence near it. Al-Qabun residents say that recently, settlers have been coming into the community, walking around their homes, arriving on horseback and in tractors late at night to provoke and intimidate the families. Jordan Valley:
On Wednesday, 25 November 2020, at around 9:00 A.M., Civil Administration personnel arrived with a military jeep escort, police officers, two bulldozers and a truck crane at the village of Fayasil a-Tahta in the northern Jordan Valley. The forces dismantled and confiscated the foundations of two shacks intended to house an extended family of seven, including two children. The shacks were donated to the family by a humanitarian aid organization after the Civil Administration demolished their homes last September.
Later, the forces demolished two shacks that housed a family of ten, four of them children, as well as a kitchen, a cement outhouse, and two metal-plated tin-roofed shacks that the family used to raise livestock. The forces also destroyed a fence and disconnected the shacks’ electricity grid.
In addition, the forces demolished ten shacks that were used by two families and included a toilet, fodder storage, stables, a chicken coop and tabun ovens. They also destroyed wheat and almond husks that were used as livestock fodder.
At around midday, Civil Administration personnel arrived with a military jeep escort and a crane truck at the community of Tal a-Smadi, northwest of the village of al-Jiftlik in the Jordan Valley. The forces dismantled and confiscated a shack that was home to a couple, as well as an outhouse and a water container donated to them by a humanitarian aid organization after the forces demolished the same structures on 21 October 2020.
Masafer Yatta, South Hebron Hills:
The same day, around 9:00 A.M., Civil Administration personnel arrived with Border Police officers at the community of Khirbet a-Rakeez in the Masafer Yatta area of the South Hebron Hills and demolished two structures that were home to a family of six, including three children. They also demolished a structure used for agriculture that belonged to another family in the community. The forces continued south to Khirbet a-Sarurah, where they demolished an outhouse owned by a community resident. They then continued further south to the community of Khirbet Khallet a-Dabe’, where they demolished two structures under construction intended for two families, numbering 11 people in total, including seven children, and another structure that contained a toilet and a kitchen.
From there, they went to the community of Mughayir al-‘Abid, where they demolished two structures used for agriculture that belonged to a community resident. The forces also cut and destroyed a two-kilometer water line servicing the communities of al-Fakhit, a-Safai, Mughayir al-‘Abid and a-Taban. The water line, donated by humanitarian organizations, cost almost 100,000 EUR to install. The Civil Administration already destroyed Masafer Yatta’s main water supply pipeline in February 2019, but it has since been restored. In October 2020, the Civil Administration destroyed a local pipeline servicing the communities of Mughayir al-‘Abid and Khirbet al-Majaz.
Finally, the forces arrived at the community of Khirbet Jenbah, where they destroyed a plastic water container a community resident placed on his farmland to water his olive grove. In order to make their way to the container, the forces uprooted four olive trees and demolished a wire fence around the plot. Some of the demolished structures were donated to the communities by humanitarian aid organizations.
The same day, Israel demolished a house under construction in a-Lubban a-Gharbiyah, Ramallah District
At around 6:00 A.M., Civil Administration personnel arrived with soldiers, police officers and a bulldozer at the village of a-Lubban a-Gharbiyah in Ramallah District. The forces demolished the foundation of a structure under construction (a floor and posts) intended for a family of eight, including six children. They also demolished a shack owned by another resident that was used for storage. The demolitions were carried out by power of Military Order 1797.
