Settler Violence = State Violence

In recent years — and especially since 7 October 2023 — there has been a sharp increase in both the number and severity of settler attacks against Palestinians. The incidents reported on this blog do not reflect all incidents of settler violence in the West Bank, but only those that B’Tselem was able to document and investigate.

On Thursday, 6 November 2025, at around 4:00 P.M., settlers approached the homes in the Khallet a-Natash neighborhood and threw stones at residents who were collecting firewood. Three of the assailants used a slingshot. One of the stones hit six-year-old Adam a-Shantir in the cheek. He was taken to ‘Aliya Governmental Hospital in Hebron, where he was examined and treated before being discharged at 9:00 P.M.

I live with my husband, Hijazi a-Shantir, 45, and our children, Ahmad, 16, Yusef, 15, Yamin, 10 and Adam, 6, in the Khallet a-Natash area, in the eastern part of Hebron. Near our home, to the east, the outpost of Giv’at Gal was established, and about 500 meters from it, there is a military base called “Jales”.
We suffer from settler attacks on a regular basis, especially on Fridays, Saturdays and Jewish holidays. Since the war broke out on 7 October, the attacks have become more violent and vicious, and all this happens in full view of the Israeli military and police.
On 6 November 2025, at around 4:00 P.M., while I was making dinner and the children were helping our neighbors collect firewood, I heard women there shouting that settlers were attacking the home.
I went outside to see what was happening and saw that many family members had gathered in the yard, including women and children. Our neighbor tried to gather the children and get them inside, and at the same time, I saw three settlers throwing stones at the house with a slingshot.
As the neighbors were trying to get the children inside, one of the stones hit my son, Adam, in the face. He fell to the ground, blood gushing from his right cheek. He screamed and cried. When I saw the blood covering his face, I froze. I was afraid the injury was serious. I ran to him, shouting and crying. My son Ahmad picked Adam up and took him to the ‘Aliya Governmental Hospital for treatment.
The doctors did X-rays and a CT scan to make sure there were no fractures. Adam had a deep wound in his right cheek, and they stitched it with six stitches. He was discharged from the hospital that same evening, at around 9:00 P.M., after receiving the necessary treatment, painkillers and antibiotics.
Adam hasn’t gone to school since that day, on the doctor’s recommendation. I took him today, but after he cried and refused to stay, I had to stay with him until the third period. He’s still taking antibiotics, and the scar from the wound and the stitches is still visible on his cheek.
